WELCOME BACK HOME TO ALL BALD ROCK

AND

THE DIVIDE OWNERS!!!

2006!!!

A welcome message is being sent to you from the Beautiful Mountains at Bald Rock and The Divide.  Life up here seems so magical and we all feel very fortunate that we have our lovely communities to come to.  The dog woods are blooming and Spring is on our doorsteps.   Our winter trees are showing their spring leaves and we are slowly seeing more green across our mountains.  The rhododendrons and mountain laurel have full blooms ready to burst as we all are as now many of us are officially Bald Rock POA owners.  Many who will be arriving in the next few weeks will probably see our entire natural flora in full bloom to welcome you back!!!  We have had regular bear activity, deer sighted particularly in pasture land, and of course turkeys

And the best news, again we have a Barn Manager                           Denisa Palinkas!!

We thank Celeste Ceva for a job  well done last year!!!

***A First Community Cookout at the Pavilion in the Divide***

Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 27th at 6:00 PM

Bring whatever you would like to grille, a dish to share to serve 8 people, and whatever beverage you would like to bring.  .  We will be making purchases of tables, chairs, and paper supplies to be kept at the Pavilion and the Barn for our functions and we will be asking for a donation for these items.  We need to purchase at least 10 tables and 60 chairs this year and thank Patti Dodd for shopping in Atlanta for all our needs.    The suggested donation of $40 for each family should be mailed and made out to

Brenda Council

This year we know that there will be scheduled community events along with private parties scheduled for each month, and many have golf activities at the new Club in Sapphire, and for that reason we have scheduled the community cook outs for once monthly.

At the first cookout, we will be asking for volunteers thereafter to set up the grille, tables, ect. for future functions.  Two couples to host per function is recommended and if you volunteer for a certain date and will be away, we ask that you  please have someone take your place.  When you are hosting a cookout, you need to check your supplies ahead of time, and it is asked that you carry the garbage bags home to avoid any looting by bears. Contact Barry Gold, 507-0092, mobile 743-2124l to unlock the Pavilion. Brenda Council, Suzanne Magalis and Shirley Insoft also have access.    All houseguests are welcomed.  We look forward with anticipation to see all our returning friends for a great reunion.  We have one couple volunteer for the 1st cookout on June 17th, Jim and Michelle Styring and need another couple to help that evening.  Please note the following starting at 6:00 PM

The dates:

May 27, June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21

Please contact Brenda Council, 828-743-6128 to let her know the two couples that could host for the dates posted above.  We have 3 couples for May 27th that have volunteered.       June 17th, we need only one more couple.  Thanks so much for wanting to be a part of our community that we are fortunate to have.

***WELCOME TO DENISA, OUR NEW BARN MANAGER!!!

Denisa Palinkas will manage and live at the barn this summer with Spot, her rat terrier. Denisa, a 32 year old great horsewoman with a lifetime of experience of riding, training, and teaching looks forward to coming to the mountain. Shirley Insoft, Rustic Interiors by Shirley was the design coordinator for Village Square of Sapphire Valley. She won 1st place from The International Dark Skies Association, www.darksky.org  for making Village Square an example of  a “dark-sky” community.  “Dark-Sky” lighting only shines down and does not trespass to the sides of the fixture or up toward the sky.  Shirley worked successfully with the planning council in Cashiers to have the lighting ordinances changed to this type of lighting and   was approved for Cashiers Township in April of this year. She hopes that all developers, businesses and residents will follow this example.

There were 7 entries from all over the world and she received the award in Tucson , AZ at the IDA’s annual meeting.   Her only goal is to save our beautiful mountain skies in order for all to enjoy the stars at night!
